A guide to self-publishing?
8:42 AMJeremy told me he thinks I should do an e-book on how to self-publish a book. I said "hogwash, no one cares about that." But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that there's been a bunch of email that I've answered over the past 3 years on how to do exactly that, why it's a good idea, what the point of it is, etc.
I wonder if it's e-book worthy, or if I should just blog about it?
More than that, is there space there to talk about creativity, motivation, writing technique, business, marketing, etc? Or does that clutter the concept too much?
I COULD do it blog-style and then create an e-book version for taking with you on the road, which would just be a mirror of the blog version. I don't know... I'M SO CONFUSED
What do you guys think?

It really is a good idea. I don't think blog-style is the way to go, though. I feel it makes it kind of, you know, not as serious as it's supposed to be, kind of thing. I dunno. I'll go fry my chicken now.
I like the idea of an ebook. I read ebooks on my pocket pc, so I'm kinda being selfish there, but those are my 2 bytes...
Why limit yourself? The eBook could give you exposure to people that this blog won't and vice versa. I'd say do both, much in the same vein as you have with MI!
I think this is a brilliant idea, Joe.
Go for the ebook, Joe. I'm sure there are a lot of fledgling writers out there who would really appreciate a
"this is how I did it, here's what to watch out for and what to do that works" sort of guide to ease their fears about going the self-publish route.
I know that my uncle considered the idea of self-publishing his Civil War novel but had a lot of concerns about what he'd need to do. You could help people like him wend their ways through the treacherous waters more safely.
Being honest, sounds like a snooze-fest to me. Finish your damn stalker story!
I think either way you do it, people will read it and get useful info from it. Go for it!
Joe, I'm not a writer, but I think the books "On Writing" by Stephen King, and "The Zen of Writing" by Ray Bradbury are interesting for anyone who likes to read and is interested in the process.
I think you could pull it off.
